Microbiota are microscopic bacteria/organisms that live on the skin, there are over 1000 types that have been identified. Yes, this also includes your face. However, most of these bacteria are harmless, and some even have benefits. Other types that can cause, issues like folliculitis, which is the infection of the hair follicle. Symptoms often manifest themselves as bumps, irritation and redness.
The good news is that light to moderate cases usually do not require medical attention.
Here are some of the more common causes and tips on preventing razor bumps, folliculitis, and shaving irritation.
Skin trauma, chronic friction, and excessive sweating
